Behind the Scenes

The equipment: A mini-dv camera, a tripod and available light.
Hardware/ Software: A Mac, Final Cut Pro and After Effects

There were many challenges in making this very low budget 7 minute film. One challenge was to take footage shot on a mini-dv camera and make it look more ‘film like’. Another, was only having one day to shoot the whole film. There was also very little budget, so no chance of elaborate outdoor light setups, and of course, most of the film is meant to be set during the evening. This meant that we had to shoot day-for-night. Which in reality for me translated to a 5 minute on location setup using only available light, a couple of takes, and the rest of the time in post production trying to work some magic.
